The Catalyst Now Seeking Submissions -- Nov. 6th Deadline

Greetings from The Catalyst!

The semester seems to be in overload mode and the La Crosse community is buzzing with activity.  As anyone who follows American politics can see, the nation is pulsing with more and more energy the closer we get to November. Why not turn that energy into creativity? For this semester's edition of The Catalyst we would love to hear your voice.  Therefore, this semester's theme is "The Choice is Yours!"  During this busy election season, everyone has something to say. Avoiding mud slinging and various other negative political tactics can be difficult; focusing on personal views is nearly impossible. Show us how creative you can be with your views!

As always, we will be happy to accept submissions outside of the theme. 

 

Please submit your work by November 6th to [email protected].  Feel free to direct any questions, comments, or concerns to this address as well.

 

* All photos and artwork should be submitted in .jpeg format.  Please send music by way of a YouTube link.  If this is not possible, please contact us and we will try to work around the issue.

Book Club Discussion of "The Tell-Tale Heart," 10/26

On Wednesday, October 26th, the English Club is sponsoring a Book Club event open to ANY interested students and faculty.  We will be discussing Edgar Allan Poe's "The Tell-Tale Heart."  Please share this event with your friends and students--and feel free to join us.

Be it a challenge or a joy— if it shapes you, we would like to hear about it.

English Club Welcome and Book Giveaway, 9/15

WHAT:        English Club Welcome Event & Book Giveaway

WHEN         Wednesday, September 15, 3-5 p.m.

WHERE:      4th Floor Lounge, Wimberly Hall

Dear English Majors and Minors,

The English Club invites you to pick up a free literature anthology, socialize with friends and faculty over some snacks, and help us develop this student organization!  FRESHMEN, this means you too! We want to meet you. 

This is an opportunity for all majors and minors to become active and take on leadership roles in a campus-recognized student organization. 

English Club Opportunities--what are some possible roles for the members?  We want your suggestions and will provide you with a form to fill out.  Here are some ideas:

• Work with The Catalyst, the UW-L online student publication  
• Volunteer to be conversation partners with international students
• Participate in community events, possibly in connection with other organizations
• Help develop  SPEAK! The once-monthly open-mike event at The Cellar
• Have fun in social activities such as reading groups, film viewings, coffee shop tours, Ultimate Frisbee, and more

 English Club representatives will be available from 3-5, so mark the date!!!
