A release party for UW-L's nationally-recognized literary journal "Steam Ticket: A Third Coast Review Volume XIII" is set for 4 p.m. Thursday, May 6, in 230 Wimberly Hall. Snacks and refreshments will be served.
The 2010 spring edition includes 40 poetry selections, six short fiction stories, and 20 black and white visual art selections.
The volume features an interview with John McNally, author of "Book of Ralph" and "After the Workshop." The interview was excerpted from a discussion in a UW-L creative writing class where McNally was a visiting author. He shared his thoughts on the writer’s block myth, how to end a story and the writing process.
"Steam Ticket" is available for purchase at $6 for students and $7 for others at downtown La Crosse businesses or by sending a check to "Steam Ticket," English Department, University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, La Crosse, WI 54601.
"Steam Ticket" staff scoured thousands of poems, hundreds of prose selections, and more than 100 photographs, drawings, paintings and digital art selections for the 2010 edition.
Founded in 1996, "Steam Ticket" illuminates writers and readers around the U.S. It was established by UW-L Professor Emeritus Robert Treu, English. The journal continues to be hosted by the English Department and is overseen by faculty adviser Matthew Cashion.
